Persian shopping phrases

Shopping in Persian rewards a handful of phrases, especially in a bazaar where bargaining is expected.

The key question is chande? چنده؟, how much is it, or more fully gheymatesh chande? قیمتش چنده؟. To say you want something, use ino mikham اینو می‌خوام, I want this.

Cheap and expensive

Geroone گرونه means it's expensive, and arzoone ارزونه means it's cheap. Saying geroone gently is often the opening move in a friendly negotiation.

Asking for a discount

Takhfif midin? تخفیف می‌دین؟ means "can you give a discount?" In bazaars this is normal and expected, not rude. A smile and patience go a long way.

Paying

Kart mishe? کارت می‌شه؟ asks if card payment is possible. To confirm a purchase, hamino mikham means "I'll take this one."

Ask the price, comment that it's geroone, request takhfif, and settle up, and you can handle a bazaar like a regular.
